About Yujian Cui:
Yujian Cui (Born in Shandong, China) is a Chinese Artist who lives and studies in China and the US. He is a BFA3 Photo and Media student at the California Institute of the Arts. He is using photography as a medium to combine Eastern and Western cultures. He is also discovering the space between texts and visual language, philosophizing about time and space. His works are mainly about the conflict between social development and individual sentiment, Asian immigrant history in the US, and self-expression between different cultures. His works also explore and discuss the authenticity and essence of documentary photography. Trying to break the gaze and self-centered perspective in Photography and Film.
